Formakami JH5 Pendant Light by &Tradition
Designer Jaime Hayon is, in the words of Time Magazine, a visionary. In the case of the Formakami JH5 pendant, his vision was both practical and emotional, a riff on the design and construction of traditional paper lanterns intended to emit as much light as possible while making us think about the important cultural role that lamps and light play in our lives.
For Hayon, ‘light has the ability to dispel darkness and bring hope’, and his goal with the Formakami range was to use this ability to ‘literally and symbolically’ illuminate people’s lives. The JH5 resembles a classic paper lantern with the bottom part cut off, intended to direct light downwards as well as diffuse it around the room, allowing maximum illumination. Two black lacquered oak rings punctuate the white rice paper diffuser, highlighting its lightness and emphasising the contrast between the delicacy of the lantern and the power of the light inside it.
The Formakami JH5 is the perfect lighting solution for any home, office, or retail space where a comfortable atmosphere is desired; improve on perfection by combining it with other lights from the
&Tradition Formakami collection for even more illumination and a sense of consistency across your design scheme.
