The Formakami Collection is inspired by Asian lighting and updated with Scandinavian design to fit modern interiors. Designer Jaime Hayon says they are intended to fit a time when “the past is becoming the present”. Each shade features a set of black-stained oak rings that add a contemporary contrast to a classic lantern design. These shades are created using thin rice paper, which allows light from within to be diffused to a soft glow.
Jaime Hayon understands the importance of light and its “ability to dispel darkness and bring hope.” He designed the Formakami Collection to create as much light as possible, cutting the bottom part out of the shade. This creates a downward light that fills the room, making it perfect for hanging above a table, kitchen island, or reading nook. They can be fitted with other pendants from the collection and hung at altering heights to adapt to any interior and décor. The fluid design adds a contemporary feel to any space while the diffused light creates a comfortable atmosphere without sacrificing brightness.
