&Tradition Flowerpot VP2 Pendant
As the sixties grew into the seventies, so too did the Flowerpot series grow, in number and in size. The Flowerpot VP2 – designed in 1971 – fulfilled the demand for a larger Flowerpot and allowed the influence of this already iconic design to spread into even grander spaces. If the original Flowerpots were an invitation to use your imagination and to dream big, then the message of the VP2 was simple: dream even bigger.
Just like the earlier
pendants, the Flowerpot VP2 consists of two deep-drawn metal hemispheres, one twice the size of the other, lacquered in a variety of bold colours, evoking the shapes and patterns that defined the furniture and interiors of the sixties – many of which were also designed by Panton. What was then futuristic is now retro, but in any case, this is a design which has stood the test of time and one which will continue to do so in homes, hotels, restaurants, and exhibitions for as long as rooms need lighting.
The Flowerpot family also includes the original
VP1 pendant and slightly larger
VP7 pendant, both from 1968, as well as two table lamps, the
VP3 &
VP4, which followed a year later.
