The Luisa Pendant is created by Spanish designer Arturo Alvarez. Alvarez often references nature as well as geometric shapes in his designs, which can be seen the The Luisa. The form is constructed using various lengths of overlapping layers made from stainless-steel mesh. This mesh, SIMETECH®, allows the layers to be moulded into organic-looking curves. The overlapping layers block the light source at varying degrees, allowing the light to shine brighter through some sections than through others. This gives the pendant the illusion of movement, with the hue depending on the observer’s viewpoint.

The Luisa Pendant structure looks elegant and sleek whether it is switched on or off. When illuminated, however, the light adds a new dimension of artistry to the design. The shade filters light to create a play of light and shadows against the surrounding walls. The exposed base produces a directional downward light which is framed by geometrical patterns.
