Arturo Alvarez

Arturo Alvarez is an acclaimed Spanish designer, craftsman, and innovator. His interest in design started at a young age when he would design and build his own toys from natural objects. He continued to draw inspiration from nature in the early years of his career. His designs then evolved into more innovative and daring designs, with nods to Art Deco and Art Nouveau. In his recent work, Arturo continues to reference nature while exploring simple, geometric forms. For example, his Coral Collection is inspired by the beauty of the coral reef, and the organic shapes featured in The Nevo Collection are reminiscent of that of a rose.

As an innovative creator, Arturo spent two years creating SIMETECH®, a silicone and steel mesh that forms the basis of the Coral family of lamps among others. SIMETECH® allows typically resistant steel to become malleable, creating a natural and unique finish for each piece. His work has led his brand to receive multiple awards, including Interior Design's Best of Year Award, the Good Design Award, and the Red Dot Award, amongst others.
