The HAY Nelson Ball Bubble Pendants were designed by George Nelson, an American designer who used Swedish inspiration for this iconic ceiling lamp. When seeing a set of Swedish silk-covered orb pendants, George Nelson wanted them for his office however he later discovered they were highly expensive and unavailable. Nelson then used his resourcefulness to create a more available and affordable alternative. Instead of using silk, use a spray-on polymer webbing material that, when sprayed on a lightweight steel frame, creates these iconic glowing ceiling lights that appear to float mid-air. His design has been said to have earned Nelson the status of being an influential figure in the crucial early period of modern design.
