Alberto Meda was born in 1945 in Como and studied Mechanical Engineering at Milan Polytechnic where he graduated in 1969. In 1973 he became the technical manager of Kartell where he experimented with plastic-based materials and production processes, his time here came to an end in 1979 when he went on to work as a freelance designer, consulting for Gaggia and Alfa Romeo. He has taught at Domus Academy, Milan Polytechnic, Bremerhaven Designlabor, IUAV in Venice and has won numerous Compasso d’Oro awards

Francesco Meda is the son of Alberto and was born in Milan in 1984. He graduated from the Instituto Europeo of Design and went on to gain hands-on experience working at Sebastian Bergne’s and at Ross Lovegrove’s studio in London. He is a young designer with ith a focus on traditional craftsmanship and in 2013 he was awarded the Compasso d’Oro award for co-designing "Flap”, an acoustic panel produced by Caimi Brevetti. During the same year, he launched his own studio.
