The Trombone Collection was designed by Jo Hammerborg in 1966. In his early career, Hammerborg worked as an apprentice silversmith. This experience influenced his later work and can be seen in all of his designs. He acquired a keen eye for detail, an appreciation for raw materials, and an understanding of the importance of simplicity in design. The Trombone Collection showcases these points perfectly. Each piece was stripped of unnecessary details until only a clean, minimalistic structure remained. The Trombone was named after the instrument due to its strong resemblance. The metal cylinder is connected by a crossbar, reminiscent of a draft trumpet.
The design of the Trombone proved challenging for Jo Hammerborg, and he had to overcome multiple obstacles in its conception. When it was completed, however, The Trombone had such a special meaning to Hammerborg that he had it displayed with pride in his home for many years. Each piece is available in brushed brass or brushed aluminium, both of which perfectly capture Hammerborg’s love and respect for metals.
