The Urchin Pendant is created by steam-bending timber to form the shade’s sleek arches. Tom Raffield, a world leader in steam-bending, utilises this technique as it allows for wood to be bent and twisted beyond its perceived limits. This method also aligns with the studio’s eco-friendly ethos as it is low-waste, low-energy, and eliminates the use of any toxic glues. Each pendant is made from 32 pieces of responsibly sourced and certified sustainable ash, oak, or walnut timber.

The light source sits within the Urchin Pendant, partially enclosed by the wooden arches. Pools of light escape through the petals, casting patterned rays against the surrounding walls and creating a captivating display of light and shadows. The Urchin Pendant can be installed in clusters in large spaces with high ceilings to emphasise the height of your interior. Mix the finishes throughout the cluster to create a fresh and interesting display. Alternatively, install a single pendant above a dining room table to illuminate the room while adding a cosy and calming ambience.
