Smoke Armchair by Moooi

As part of Maarten Baas' project for graduation, he created the Smoke Collection, a family of chairs and armchairs as well as a single chandelier. His inspiration stems from the constant change found in nature, everything moving and flowing. This comes in contradiction with our human nature, wishing to keep things as they are, as they are supposed to be, static. The Moooi Armchair is made with wood that has been charcoaled and then preserved with an epoxy resin to maintain the burnt, somewhat smokey look. Pieces from the Smoke Collection can today be found today in Museums around the world, such as the Victoria&Albert Museum (UK) and the Groninger Museum (Netherlands).

The Smoke Armchair is both a functional and decorative piece. The elaborate process in making these chairs makes each one unique and different from the other. The chairs had a leather seat and back, while the foam is fire retardant. You can place the Smoke Armchair at the head of the table, in your office or the corner of the living room. An armchair that is both majestic and unique, fit for your home, offiice and business.
