Peter Natedal & Thomas Kalvatn Egset

Peter Natedal & Thomas Kalvatn Egset are Norwegian designers with a rich history in furniture making. Peter Natedal (born 1981) comes from a family with a long tradition of furniture retailing, while Thomas Kalvatn Egset’s (born 1981) family has an extensive history in furniture making. Both studied at the Oslo National Academy of Arts where they graduated with a Masters in Furniture Design. They teamed up to create the Diva Floor Lamp and Diva Pendant, drawing from their knowledge of working with wood to create these ornamental pieces. They worked with the Scandinavian lighting brand Northern to produce these luminaires. With a shared love of Scandinavian design, sustainability, and design excellence, this was a match made in heaven.

The design duo won the coveted award of Design Excellence in 2011 for their Diva Collection. Nowadays, Peter lives in Porsgrunn, where he creates light and furniture designs, makes 3D modeling for clients, and directs hotel interior projects. He also continues to work with his family in their furniture shop. Thomas Kalvatn Egset is now based in Oslo, where he works as an independent furniture designer. Thomas draws inspiration from his grandfather, who worked as a furniture craftsman as a cabinetmaker.
