Norm Architects was founded in 2008 by Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen and Kasper Ronn. The name resembles their emphasis on drawing inspiration from norms and traditions in the design world. Bjerre-Poulsen and Ronn both graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts before forming this Copenhagen based, multi disciplinary studio.
The work of Norm Architects is defined by the founders as a facilitation of well-being, a distillation of aesthetics that resonate with the unique person and place, and as a system that supports universal human needs. They aim to enrich the human experience and focus heavily on meeting consumers needs. Each design harnesses Scandinavian design trends, with a clean and minimalistic style.
"We believe in durability, in terms of aesthetics, materiality and craftsmanship. We aim at always arriving at the maximum of expressivity with the minimum of expression, and we believe that’s an eloquent gesture in a time where images, forms and sounds are ever so overwhelming. We want our designs to not only be made of high quality materials by talented craftsmen, but for them to outlive fleeting trends while still embodying beauty and history." - Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen
