Tom Raffield Mooring

The Mooring Collection includes a Table Lamp and Floor Lamp. Designed by Tom Raffield, each piece is expertly hand-crafted from his Cornish-based studio. The curve of the oak frame is achieved through a process called steam-bending. This process allows typically durable timber to be twisted and bent into seemingly impossible shapes. Due to the lengthy, unpredictable, and labour-intensive process, steam-bending is seldom seen in large-scale productions. For Tom Raffield however, this method is perfect for achieving the desired shapes seen in his designs while the low-energy, low-wastage process allows his studio to remain sustainable.

The contemporary profile of the Mooring Collection is the product of a refreshingly simplistic design. The oak frame against the brass fittings and singular exposed bulb creates a striking juxtaposition of natural against industrial aesthetics. The Mooring Collection is available in oak, or ebonised oak in the Noctis edition. The natural oak finish blends seamlessly into a range of decors, with the light, warm hues being a popular choice in furniture and lighting designs. The Noctis ebonised oak is a much darker finish that contrasts against light furniture in a striking display. Its rich, dark hues exude luxury while creating a statement.
