Magis is a well-established designer brand that was founded in 1976 by Eugenio Perazza in Motta di Livenza, a town in the North Italian region of Veneto. The region was and is known as an epicentre of artisanal design, boasting design traditions and practices that have been passed down over generations of makers. Perazza wanted to make his own unique and groundbreaking stamp on the region and design world by pushing for serial industrial production whilst experimenting with new and innovative materials, methods and technologies. He wanted to produce more than just the predictable and typical designs seen at the time, and aptly named his brand Magis to reflect this as it means more in Latin.
Since its inception, Magis has gone on to produce revolutionary and cutting-edge products whilst also cultivating and encouraging new designers that went on to become internationally-recognised icons. Designers such as Jasper Morrison, Philippe Starck and Konstantin Grcic have all produced creations for the brand, growing and experimenting with the company to become known on a global scale. The success of Magis is reflected in its astounding achievements, receiving close to 100 well-regarded accolades, including 5 Compasso d’Oro awards, and having designs exhibited permanently in over 35 museums worldwide.
