Timo Ripatti

Timo Ripatti studied as an architect and furniture designer, with a background ranging from lighting and furniture design to large-scale architecture, exhibitions and interior design projects. Today he is the founder of his own design studio, Studio Ripatti, which is based in Helsinki and focuses on lighting and product design. Ripatti works with brands of the highest quality, and the studio combines aesthetics, poetry and functionality.

Ripatti has received a vast amount of awards over the years, including the Furniture Prize of the Year in Finland in 2009; the Furniture Designer of the Year Award in Finland in 2010; the Red Dot in 2012; and the NYCxDESIGN Award at ICFF, New York in 2016.

His work has also been displayed at exhibitions all over the world, including at the Salone del Mobile, London Design Festival, Stockholm Design Week, the Bella Center in Copenhagen, the Finnish Glass Museum and the Design Forum Showroom. On top of this, Timo Ripatti also spends his time teaching at the University of Aalto in Helsinki and at the Institute of Design and Fine Arts of Lahti.
