Tim Rundle, Creative Director of Resident and founder of Tim Rundle Studio, is an accomplished industrial designer whose multidisciplinary portfolio spans furniture, lighting, consumer products, and transport. Based in Auckland, New Zealand, Tim’s approach is grounded in creating designs that harmonise architecture with human interaction, prioritising functionality, simplicity, and material excellence. His studio is renowned for its context-driven products that seamlessly blend practicality with engaging design.
Graduating from Victoria University of Wellington, Tim began his career at Formworks Design in New Zealand, contributing to innovative projects like Air New Zealand’s ground-breaking seating systems. He later moved to London, where he worked with esteemed firms such as Priestmangoode, Tom Dixon, and Conran and Partners, eventually becoming Design Director at the latter. These experiences honed Tim’s ability to combine technical expertise with creative ingenuity, culminating in the establishment of his eponymous studio in 2015.
Collaborating with global brands like Menu, SPØ1, and Panasonic, Tim’s designs are celebrated for their timeless aesthetic and meticulous attention to detail. Alongside his professional practice, he has contributed to design education, serving as a tutor at the Royal College of Art and a visiting lecturer at Central St Martins.
