SmithMatthias

SmithMatthias is a multidisciplinary design studio, founded by Jack Smith and Gemma Matthias in 2014 and based in Brixton. Smith and Matthias met during their University studies in Sheffield, upon graduating Jack Smith went on to receive his Masters degree at the Royal College of Arts, whilst Gemma Matthias gained hands-on experience in the field. The pair both worked for several architects and design studios before deciding to open their own creative hub. SmithMatthias takes a utilitarian and explorative approach to design, driven by their desire to leave a positive footprint on the world.

The London-based design studio creates contemporary pieces, whilst considering all aspects of form and function. The duo thrives when in situations that require problem-solving, aiming to solve familiar issues of modern living whilst applying rigour and thoughtfulness to their work. SmithMatthias strive to encompass function, technology, relevance and sustainability into all that they do.

SmithMatthias have won various awards throughout their career and have partnered with some huge brands, including Hay, Modus and Allermuir.
