Simon P. Henningsen was born in Copenhagen in 1920. He was a Danish architect and lighting designer. He was the son of the legendary designer Poul Henningsen (1894-1967) and his wife Else Stroyberg. The luminaire designers collaborated together many times, including on the design of Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. Simon followed in his father's footsteps as Tivoli's chief architect from 1948 onwards.
Simon P. Henningsen designed many elaborate lights which often featured unique and playful shapes, strong geometry, bright colours and various reflective surfaces.
