Paolo Rizzatto graduated in Architecture from Milan Polytechnic in 1965 and continued to work freelance in his Milanese studio. He experimented in the fields of architecture, interior design, and product design. Paolo Rizzatto described his early work as ‘I work as an architect, my first approach to light was based on its function within architecture’. This led Paolo Rizzatto to design lighting that acts as many lighting solutions in different environments.
A product that is highly functional and provides a creative lighting solution is the
Flos 265 Chromatica Wall Light. This wall light was designed by Paolo Rizzatto in 1973 and has quickly become an iconic design. Rizzatto's passion for colour is clear when looking at the 265 Chromatica Wall Light as the vibrant red, yellow and blue add a playful bold aesthetic to any environment. This is also apparent in the design and colours of the
Kartell Jolly Side Table which is also an example of the simplicity and impact of Paolo Rizzatto's designs.
Paolo Rizzatto's love for bold colours and simplistic design follows through to other collections such as the
Luceplan Costanzina collection. This collection uses a minimalist design along with many bold and intriguing coloured finishes. Colours such as bright primary red, smart yellow or petroleum blue.
