Mads Sætter-Lassen is a Danish designer and graduate of the prestigious School of Design at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. After also studying at Rhode Island School of Design and the Pratt Institute in New York, Mads founded his studio Kroyer Saetter Lassen along with Emil Krøyer, who he met during his studies. From their studio Mads and Emil work on product, furniture design, and interiors for clients across the world.
Mads Sætter-Lassen focuses on creating designs with simplicity and functionality, avoiding overcomplicating designs with unnecessary details. His experience in cabinet-making and metalwork allows him to showcase the beauty of the materials he uses. The Buddy Lamp is an excellent example of this ethos, with its functional design awarding Mads with the Northern Studio Award in 2015.
"I’ve always been an advocate of democratic design, focused on honesty, simplicity, and functionality. Through my work I like to combine traditional craftsmanship with modern industrial production, preferring to showcase the integrity of the materials rather than embellish products unnecessarily." - Mads Sætter-Lassen
