Lagranja Design is a design studio founded by Gerard Sanmarti and Gabriele Schiavon in 2002, who met whilst working together at Fabrica. They combine teaching with industrial design, exhibition design and commercial interior design. Based on their commitment to craftsmanship, care and comprehensive development, they manage to convey their own style through very different registers. The pair entered a competition, leading to them spending a month in the Pacific Ocean island chain, it was here they decided to set up a serious studio.
Gerard Sanmarti was born in Barcelona in 1974, where he studied Design at ELISAVA School of Design and Engineering - graduating in 1996. After his studies in Barcelona, he completed a year’s studies at the University of Industrial Arts in Helsinki before moving to Italy and beginning his work with Fabrica.
Gabriele Schiavon was born in Padua in 1973 and originally wanted to pursue a career in music, but went on to study Architecture in Venice, graduating in 1997. He got his first insight into design when he started working at Fabrica in 1998, where he joined on a scholarship.
