Jumbo are a New York City based design studio, founded in 2016 by old friends Justin Donnelly and Monling Lee who met while studying architecture. The pair specialise in a creative but unexpectedly lovable aesthetic that’s made them possibly the most joyful design studio to launch in years.
Donnelly and Lee specialise in bold and conceptual design, they are dedicated to creating an environment that’s joyful, without losing the technical aspects. Since forming Jumbo Design Studio, the duo have been featured in various publications, including; The New York Magazine, The New York Times, Architectural Digest, and The Architect’s Newspaper.
"As a studio, we don’t just want to make fat or overstuffed design objects. Instead, we want to bring the susceptibility and the helplessness that we associate with childhood to our design objects. Sometimes this could be a big, dumb chair made from bent foam that is squeezed together. Other times it could be in glass objects that are clearly deflated or imperfect.
