Jozeph Forakis is an American designer, born in New York in the sixties. He is the son of two artists and he reflects his background tied to the world of art and the theatre in his cultural approach. Forakis gained his Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art from the Rhode Island School of Design and went on to found his own design studio in 2002. His studio now hosts offices in Milan and New York and is described as a strategic design agency working across product, digital, brand, and environmental design. They create humanistic design solutions that connect emotionally with consumers.

Forakis' approach to design is known for his innovative use of materials, as well as his interest in the influence of digital technologies on products. His work has gained multiple acknowledgements, including the inclusion of Havana, one of Foscarini’s most popular products, in the permanent design collection at the MoMA in New York. He is also the European Design Director for Motorola.

"Havana was the first Foscarini lamp made in plastic material. It was a risk, but Foscarini proved to be very courageous, and decided to wager on this absolute novelty." - JozephForakis
