Johanna Forsberg is a self-taught designer from Sweden. Her creative journey began when she discovered pliable mesh, and she began experimenting with the possible forms she could create. Over the years she has developed her signature style along with her own methods of manipulating different metals and meshes. Johanna draws inspiration from the natural world, creating organic-looking structures and sculptures of animals and plants.
Johanna works from her studio in Grundsundavallen, a small village in Northern Sweden. Now, over twenty years since she created her first mesh sculpture, Johanna’s work can be seen in homes and businesses around the world. Her most famous design is the Heat Pendant, which she produced during her collaboration with Norwegian Brand Northern. Heat perfectly encapsulates Johanna's talent for making an otherwise cold and lifeless material seem full of life and movement.
"I strongly think we would all benefit from more tactile and playful experiences being designed. Functional and sculptural pieces bridge the gap between art and design, and provide endless possibilities of exploration and discovery." - Johanna Forsberg.
