Ionna Vautrin is a French designer born in 1979, she studied at l'école de design Nantes Atlantique where she graduated in 2002. During the course of her career, she has worked for a number of prestigious names including Camper in Spain, George J. Sowden in Italy and Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec in France.
Shortly after being awarded the Prix de la Creation Award, in 2011, Vautrin founded her own studio. Here she focuses her efforts on creating simple yet surprising everyday objects, combining geometric and organic forms. The result is functional designs which have a gentle presence and combine industry knowledge with poetic forms. Vautrin is well known for her collaborations with Italian lighting manufacturers Foscarini, for them she designed the Binic Table Lamp and the Chouchin collection.
"I tend to adopt quite a formal approach when designing, similar to that of sculpture. I want to inject empathy into the objects I work on, to create a story around them so that people want to spend time with them because they are part of our daily lives." - Ionna Vautrin
