Harrit-Sorensen is a Danish design studio founded by Thomas Harrit and Nicolai Sørensen. The duo met at the Danish School of Design where they were both studying to become industrial designers. After finishing their studies they worked for a couple of years, Harrit at Lego and Sørensen at Knud Holscher, before pairing up to open their studio in 1991.
The studio designs a range of products for companies around the world including high-tech medical equipment, toys, furniture, and more. Harrit-Sorensen often collaborate with notable companies, allowing outside perspectives to bring a fresh perspective to their designs. During their collaboration with lighting brand ‘Le Klint’, they created the Bee Hive table lamp, a lamp that strikes a perfect balance between Japanese and Danish design traditions. Over the years, Harrit-Sorensen has won numerous prizes and awards, including the Danish Design Prize (2000); the EU Product Award for Sustainable Development (2002); the Danish Product Award (2011); and multiple Red Dot Design Awards.
“We want new challenges and new exciting projects that will be part of how things are changing in this quickly evolving world of ours. It excites us and makes us eager to keep contributing, to do our part in making sure that it’s a good world.” - Nicolai Sørensen
