Gio Minelli was born in Bergamo, Italy in 1976. He studied Industrial Design at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera in Milan, underneath D. Boriani and Roberto Semprini. Immediately after finishing his studies, Minelli made design his life and began working on new creations, his work takes on a poetic approach and combines his artistic roots with modern technology. When he was young, Minelli created unique pieces and installations for contemporary art events and was invited to the project The Italian design for Unicef, which was exhibited during the inauguration of the Italian Museum of Design in Milan.
Each of Gio Minelli's designs evokes experiences of travelling and soul searching, following three main components; art, design and dialogue. Not only does Minalli work on his independent designs but he is also one-half of Studio Minelli Fossati Design, alongside Marco Fossati.
"Each type of object can tell a story, an idea, plus it is really challenging to me to always deal with new items and points of view. I believe artists, artisans, designers, architects and so on must face any sort of projects by merging their skills and expertise. Luckily for us this seems to be the current new trend of approaching a project" - Gio Minelli
