Francesco Rota

Francesco Rota was born in 1966 in Switzerland. Rota graduated in product design at the Art Center College of Design in 1994 at La Tour de Peilz and then went on to open his interior and design studio in Milan in 1998. Rota believes his long-lasting, successful career lies in his passion and interest in products, furniture, lighting, showrooms, offices, residential interiors and events. He lectured in a master's programme at Istituto Europeo di Design in collaboration with Magis in 2004. 2013 was when Rota was appointed one of his greatest achievements, the creative director of Lapalma. Aside from presenting different products for the brand, he aimed at strengthening their positions in one of the most demanding world markets – Europe, North America and the far East.

Over many years Francesco has collaborated with widely recognised brands such as Knoll International, Lapalma, Mercedes Benz, Moroso, Oluce, Versus and many more. Francesco Rota has been granted three honourable mentions for the Compasso d’Oro with ‘Linea’ and ‘Island’ and ‘ADD’, which are located in the Historical Collection of the ADI Compasso d’Oro Award. His products Kanji and Move were also awarded The Good Design Awards in 2016, while ‘Screen’ was awarded the Wallpaper Design Award in 2017.
