Earnest Studio was founded in 2012 by Rotterdam-based but American-born Rachel Griffin. Griffin harbours a background in Graphic Design with a degree from Washington University in St Louis. She spent five years producing exhibitions and books before moving to the Netherlands in 2007 to study at the Design Academy Eindhoven before opening her own studio.
The studio focuses on simple and flexible Scandinavian design that isn't afraid to utilise new technologies and experimental techniques. Griffin utilises a forthright attitude towards materials and applies themes of modularity and multiplicity to a spectrum of projects.
"My work explores themes of modularity and multiplicity, driven by a fascination for simple, flexible structures with a forthright attitude toward material. I am interested in three-dimensional works which are simultaneously graphic in nature, informed both by my background in graphic design and by a desire to create objects that contribute to composing simple, bold environments." - Rachel Griffin
