Douglas Mont, born in 1973 in the tranquil region of Auvergne, France, is a designer celebrated for his innovative approach to lighting and furniture. Mont's early career saw him founding Jetnet Design and Domomodo Éditions, companies dedicated to luminous plastic furniture. Disillusioned by industrial production and the fast pace of urban life, he returned to his roots in Auvergne, where he found creative energy in the serene landscapes. His work draws heavily from the 50s and 60s and is influenced by the visionary imagery of Jodorowsky and the cult science fiction novel Dune.
In 2018, Mont reignited the legacy of his great-uncle's Parisian firm, Rispal, established in 1924 and renowned for its modernist lighting. He revived the Formes Nouvelles series of the 1950s while integrating his contemporary designs, showcasing a seamless blend of retro aesthetics and innovation. Mont’s creations highlight his passion for modular design and sustainability, featuring luminous sculptures for both indoor and outdoor use.
"I am very sensitive to the quality of the objects around me, so I appreciate a rustic wooden chair as much as a large armchair, but I need both to be well-designed..." – Douglas Mont
