Bertjan Pot
The Dutch designer Bertjan Pot graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands. It was there that he discovered his passion for textiles that can be seen within his work today. In 2003, he opened Studio Bertjan Pot in Rotterdam and worked alongside his friend Daniel White to create some groundbreaking designs. The majority of Pot's projects and products are based on research and experimentation. For example, the famous Mask collection, which is seen in museums across the globe, was formed when Pot was weaving a rug out of string and the rug started to bend and stretch and form a face. He lifted it up to his own face and realised that the string wanted to become a mask. This realisation spurred Pot on to discover how other materials form shapes and structures.

With Pot's willingness to let materials take the lead on his designs, he created the Random collection for Italian design brand Moooi. He also created the Heracleum collection whilst experimenting with different LED techniques. Pot's studio describes Bertjan Pots method of experimentation as 'most experiments start quite impulsively by a certain curiosity for how things would function or how something would look'.
