Bert Frank Design Team

Each Bert Frank light is designed by the brand's in-house design team in their London office. The company was founded in 2013 by Robbie Llewellyn and Adam Yeats, with one main aim: to oppose throwaway culture. Bert Frank believes in high-quality items that are designed to last a lifetime, taking inspiration from industrial architecture and classic British design. The company has quickly established a presence on the international design scene, earning awards such as the 2016 Elle Decoration British Design Award for Lighting and the Best Product Award at the design et al International Design Awards.

The lighting designed and crafted by Bert Frank utilises clean forms and strong shapes, which are a nod to Art Deco, and they believe that simple designs ensure there is no compromising on materials. All lighting designed by the Bert Frank Design team then goes on to be manufactured in their Birmingham based factory, all items are hand made and bespoke.

I normally find inspiration from quite mundane objects like scaffolding or metal off-cuts in the factory, these things are often triggers that lead to the idea. - Robbie Llewellyn
