Benedetta Tagliabue is an architect and designer, born in Milan in 1963. She studied at the Institute of Architecture and upon graduating in 1989 moved to Barcelona, where she now resides. Tagliabue combines her professional work with teaching at international universities. In 1991, Tagliabue began collaborating with Enric Miralles (who later became her husband) and in 1994 they opened up a design studio together: Miralles Tagliabue EMBT.
The studio now has offices in Barcelona, Shanghai and Paris. The fundamental core of their studio is to always have an open approach when it comes to design. She is the founder and director of the Enric Miralles Foundation, whose aim is to promote experimental architecture in the spirit of her late husband and partner.
"The intention of my work is to do something that helps people. Helps seeing everything differently… Helps making people comfortable, feel familiar. Then there is this thing called beauty. We strive for achieving beautiful spaces. That’s what we do." - Benedetta Tagliabue
