Aurelién Barbry is a French designer, born in 1969 in Paris. In 1997, he graduated from Ecole Camondo Paris, where he studied as an industrial and interior designer. After graduating, Barbry worked with Jean Nouvel, learning everything he could from the famous French architect. As well as the notable designers that he has worked with, Aurelién Barbry is influenced by the places he has visited during his career. He understands the importance of travel and takes the time to study architecture and embrace different cultures while he’s away from home. He is deeply influenced by Scandinavian design and the focus on functional, uncluttered forms can be seen throughout his work.
In 2007, Aurelién Barbry founded his own studio in Paris before opening a second studio in Copenhagen in 2008. It is from this studio in Copenhagen where Barbry continues to work, collaborating with notable brands such as Georg Jensen, Fredericia Furniture, and Le Klint. In 2014 his collaboration with Le Klint resulted in the popular Caché Collection, which showcases Barby's minimalistic style paired with Le Klint's traditional hand-pleated diffuser.
“My design philosophy is to move objects towards more simplicity and obviousness. To create a dialogue with the end user and to renew typologies.” - Aurelién Barbry
