Anthony Dickens is a British designer who was born in Dorset in 1975. In 1998 he founded his London-based product design studio where he designed and manufactured his own creations. In 2010 he decided to travel to Japan to explore their culture and heritage, where he gathered a vast amount of inspiration from the country's lighting solutions, specifically their materials and lighting output. Anthony Dickens later founded Studio Make Believe, where he joined forces with specialists from various disciplines to create designs for global brands.
Dickens creates products which solve problems for a range of international brands such as Santa & Cole, Innermost and Anglepoise, and his work is described as simple and functional. Over the years he has won numerous awards such as the London Design Museum's 2007 Design of the Year award and the 2018 edition of ADI-FAD's Golden Delta award for the best interior lighting product.
“I’m most inspired by having conversations with others, talking about problems and potential solutions that could help make things a little better, or hearing stories about other people’s great ideas.” - Anthony Dickens
