Andrea Anastasio is an Italian designer, born in Rome in 1961. He originally studied Philosophy before travelling to India in 1992 to cooperate on projects cataloguing Islamic architecture, researching innovation in traditional craftsmanship techniques, and partnering with architectural practices, publishers and museums. Anastasio is fascinated by conceptual art and how it can link to industrial design, he now designs furniture, lighting and other household objects for a range of Italian manufacturers.

Anastasio is best known for his work with Foscarini and Artemide and has collaborated with a range of architectural design firms. His work has been exhibited across the world and has also had two books published with Tara Books. His design work focuses on the manipulation of domestic objects and materials, to combine a range of interpretations.

"I’m not interested in making forms to add to other forms. What I’m interested in is to evoke through the making of objects or with the conception of living spaces, the condition of extraordinary vulnerability that underlies our condition. A vulnerability that must be defended because it carries profound intuitions and reflections." - Andrea Anastasio
