New in from Marset
David Village Lighting is always excited about new releases and loves to learn more about the ideas.
A favourite of ours, Marset, has recently released three brand new designs and a handful of new styles to some of their best selling collections.
We love working with Marset and their designs as they create more than just a lamp, they create pieces which create an atmosphere with character to improve our quality of life.
Below is a little bit about the new releases.
Dripping Light
Beyond its function as a lamp the Marset Dipping Light table seeks to excite.
Designer Jordi Canudas wanted to capture the essence of light and experiment with dipping a bulb into paint several times with the result this beautiful table light. The various layers of paint draw concentric circles and capture the light, moderating its intensity.
This collection is available in two sizes and several colours: green, amber, pink, white, black and blue. When turned on, its different shades of paint sift the light, creating a magical ambient effect. When off, its coloured glass sphere is an object charged with beauty perfect for a shelf, bedside, or table.
The Dipping Light has recently been given a Metropolis Likes award.

Discocó Oak
If there is one iconic lamp in the Marset collection, it’s the Discocó. Now celebrating its 10th anniversary the Discocó has been released in a new finish, oak.
The new edition is available in a 68cm pendant model with American oak discs and a black chrome structure.
The new Discocó pays homage to the original and with is new wooden discs it emits a welcoming light.

Funiculí
The original Funiculí was designed over 30 years ago but is still just as modern and functional as the day it was designed. This year Marset have brought out a new fabric shade Funiculí, a design that Lluís Porqueras first conceived in 1979 but that is only now seeing the light of day. Respecting the initial design to the fullest, only its proportions have been updated. This new fabric shade is available as a floor, table or wall versions and in two colours; beige or white, with a black structure.

High Line
Another brand new collection from Marset is the structurally beautiful Highline floor.
The svelte line design gives out light without revealing its source. The design is made of three blocks which stand out for their shapes and tones: the vertical, light-carrying element in oak or wenge is attached to a block of lacquered wood fitted to a black base.
The High Line floor is available in 4 finishes and each contrast with the warmth of the wood.

Santorini
Santorini was originally created as an outdoor light inspired by the lamps on fishing vessels. Now four years after its release Marset have brought out an indoor suspension version. The essence of the design remains the same but the finishes are more subdued giving the Santorini a softer feel. The Indoor Santorini light can still be direct or reflected simply and easily by changing the shades which are available in four colours: soft pink, clear green, sand or off-white.

Vetra
Another brand new collection from Marset is Vetra. At first glance it seems no more than a traditional blown glass lamp but designer Joan Gaspar has creatively placed the light source outside-instead of inside-the shade. Vetra features a completely closed glass diffuser giving out a beautiful light without glare directing most of the light downwards.
The collection includes a table, a floor and three suspensions. The table and floor versions feature a stem which is divided into two unequal parts, a feature that breaks the symmetry, adds beauty and elegantly provides an outlet for the cable.
