Each year,
we highly anticipate Milan’s furniture and lighting design event, Salone del
Mobile, with its arrival of new designs from our talented brands, setting the
trends and styles for the year ahead. Due to previous pandemic-related
cancelations, this year’s exhibition was tagged as @SuperSalone.
Kartell in
particular had a number of exciting new releases as well as an engaging display
to capture the attention of thousands of visitors. Even though our team
couldn’t attend this year, we kept up to date with the latest from Milan!
Kartell’s latest
project – In/Casa Kartell shows us how the Italian design house is evolving,
new styles and materials have a new and clear focus on beauty and
sustainability.
An
impressive 95% of Kartell’s new designs presented at the Salone del Mobile
event are made from sustainable materials, as well as every product in their
catalogue now being fully recyclable. Kartell do not compromise on quality,
they research and develop the industry’s most innovative techniques to create everyday
items which are both beautiful and well-made whilst being environmentally
friendly.

Goodnight by Philippe Starck for Kartell!
The
iconic French designer made his debut lighting collection for Kartell at the
Salone del Mobile event, unveiling ‘Goodnight’. The collection so far comprises
of a table lamp and wall light. ‘Goodnight’ is inspired by the traditional
stick candle, in true Starck style he has reimagined this basic light medium
into a highly technological design piece.
Philippe Starck intends to bring back to warmth and purity of candlelight through the modern equivalent called ‘Goodnight’, which caters more to modern living and maintains its versatility.
Goodnight collection: portable battery powered lamp available as an indoor or outdoor model as well as a wall mounted version.
Mini Geen-A by Ferruccio Laviani
A
new addition to the Geen-A family, the mini Geen-A is a portable and
rechargeable table lamp which was created by Laviani to be highly functional as
well as a “friend that follows you around everywhere but never gets in the
way!” Laviani is the creative force behind Kartell lighting, he designed the
Mini Geen-A to aid you in any task, anywhere, as well as create ambience when
socialising or dining.
Mini Geen-A has a light, compact form with a useful shade topped handle for easy transportation.
Mini planet by Tokujin Yoshioka
The
ever growing and popular lighting collection: Planet by Yoshioka for Kartell
now has a new mini and rather adorable model now available! The table lamp is a
tiny 16cm diameter and is available in two versatile models: plug in or
portable. This new addition to the Planet collection is perfect for creating an
ambient glow around the home, perfect as part of a cluster or as a singular
feature.

Smart wood by Philippe Starck
A
collection with sustainability at its very core, Smart Wood was created from a
new technology where thin layers of wood are moulded to product uniquely shaped
pieces without using excess materials. All wood is source from FSC certified
forests which guarantees the most sustainable approach to using natural resources.
The collection has expended to dining tables, desks, dining chairs and even
shelving.

A.I. Stool by Philippe Starck
A
new addition to the A.I. collection, but with a twist, the design is now made
from fully recycled thermoplastic technopolymer. Starck had comfort in mind by
implementing a broad and welcoming seat which some high stools do not feature!
The A.I. chair gains a stool variant with two size heights to choose from.
Kartell’s launch at Salone del Mobile 2021 has made a lasting impression in regard to functionality, style and sustainability. A brand’s values which are balanced and prioritised in this way makes for a very successful exhibition and our anticipation for these new releases is high.
