101 Copenhagen

This Danish design brand was founded in 2017 with a vision and understanding to honor 'exquisite quality and craftsmanship' from the smallest fixture to the largest installations. These timeless yet modern designs by 101 Copenhagen demonstrate a true passion for materials and refined textures, organic shapes, and colours. This designer lighting brand is deep-rooted in Scandinavian traditions whilst also being influenced by Japanese minimalist aesthetics. This pairing has meant there is a large emphasis being placed upon quality materials, techniques, and traditions. The design process used by the designers at 101 Copenhagen is dynamic and characterised by freedom of expression. Allowing designers to create unique pieces without compromising on their individuality.

101 Copenhagen is formed of two main designers, Tommy Hyldahl and Kristian Sofus Hansen, who have merged their backgrounds in the fashion industry, the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, and trips to Japan. They describe their design technique as 'Translating and transforming the simplistic inspiration from Japan in a Scandinavian context is all about honouring quality, heritage and materiality while never seizing to compromise on form and function'.
