The latest releases from Lee Broom

It’s that time of year again for the annual pilgrimage to the Milan Salone Del Mobile to see the latest in Lighting and Furniture design.

David Village Lighting always visits the show to ensure we have the best products available for our customers to choose from.

It’s an extremely busy and hot occasion, along with many showroom events in the city, and this year seemed the busiest to date.

It was great to see so many people interested in well designed products.

Lee Broom is one of the up and coming brands which we feel is both exciting and current so it is with pleasure that we present two of their new collections launched in Milan, which are now available from David Village Lighting.

The new collections are inspired by vertical and horizontal spaces, spherical forms and the refraction and reflection of light.

Lee Broom

The Eclipse range includes a pendant, a chandelier, a table lamp and a surface light.

The simple design features a mirror-polished chrome disc and an acrylic disc which interact creating a mirroring illusion. The Eclipse range works well when placed on its own or featured together.

Click here to view the Eclipse range!

Lee Broom

The Orion range includes two pendant styles; one with the LED inside the tube and one with the LED inside the Globe. These connect and expand horizontally and vertically to create bespoke features, perfect for creating a statement.

New Moooi Meshmatics Chandelier

Moooi have recently released their latest Chandelier, Meshmatics. The Chandelier is designed by Rick Tegelaar, a product design graduate from ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in The Netherlands.

Moooi

The Meshmatics Chandelier is made from wire netting which has been stretched to form a thin and flexible material which then creates the three layers.

The clever wire mesh structure reflects and diffuses the integrated LED light and contributes to keeping the light source cool by absorbing some of it heat.

The playful light cascades down the chandeliers frame creating a beautiful simmering reflection and casts an elaborate net of shadows onto the ceiling.

Louis Poulsen

New Louis Poulsen Panthella Mini Chrome Table

Louis Poulsen

Back in 1971 Verner Panton worked with Louis Poulsen to develop the iconic Panthella. The design was created to shape light and gently illuminate its surroundings to create an ideal ambience. The Panthella range has become one of Louis Poulsen’s best selling lights and in 2016 they developed the Panthella Mini to fit smaller spaces.

Now Louis Poulsen has released a Chrome finish of the compact Panthella Mini to bring Panton’s original vision of a metal Panthella to life. The chrome shade mirrors and playfully distorts its surroundings.

Louis Poulsen

The Panthella Mini features a built in LED and has an inline dimmer included on the cable. The light also features a timer that can be set to turn the lamp off after 4 or 8 hours.

The Panthella Mini’s smaller design makes it perfect on window sills, shelves, tables and other small surfaces.

“When Verner Panton originally developed the Panthella lamp with Louis Poulsen in 1971, he wanted the design to have a metal shade, which was technologically impossible at the time.”

“In 2016, we were able to make his vision a reality when we first launched the Panthella MINI with metal shades painted in bold colours from Panton’s own palette. Now, working closely with the Panton family, we have pushed Panton’s vision even further with an actual metallised finish. So the design retains its iconic form, but also gains an entirely new expression and becomes engaged in conversation with everything and everyone around it.”

Rasmus Markholt, Design Manager at Louis Poulsen

Foscarini

New Foscarini Dolmen

A new year brings new designs and the first of many from Foscarini is the Dolmen collection.

Foscarini

The design is one of Foscarini most iconic, originally designed by Ferruccio Laviani in the mid-Nineties. The collection has been reworked to adapt to the new opportunities offered by LED technology.

The collection includes a suspension and floor version both using a dimmable LED source which provides a warm uniform light and allows a slimmer aesthetic.

The finishes transform its personality and suggest different feelings and settings; matt orange with an industrial tone or a matt brushed aluminium for hightech inspiration, or a warm bronze colour.

Foscarini

The Floor lamp is designed to be rested against a wall and give out a diffused and reflected light. The suspension hangs gracefully giving both a direct and indirect light.

Both the floor and suspension versions are made from a laser-cut sheet of aluminium which is bent using a pressure bending machine and hand finished. The aluminium is anodised and subsequently liquid coated with transparent varnish or coloured paint. The collection is available aluminium, orange or bronze.

Orsjo

Product Focus – Örsjö Belysning Baklava

The Baklava collection was first unveiled in 2011 as part of Claesson Koivisto Rune’s commission to design the highly renowned Nobis Hotel on Norrmalmstorg, Stockholm.

Orsjo

The families name is a nod to the Turkish pastry baked in different layers which is reflected in the shades design.

The aim was to create a lamp with a soft glare and a smooth character. The shade is crafted from multiple textile layers which are draped and tied together at the top and bottom. There is a red plexiglass disc placed under the light source which emits a soft, reddish-pink glow at the bottom when lit. When off the fabric is white.

The wide range of sizes and models enables a selection of inspiring group arrangements.

“Designing a lamp isn’t so difficult, but coming up with something new which stands out from the crowd is another matter entirely.”

“We wanted to create a more unconventional lamp for Hotel Nobis, so we started experimenting, before eventually deciding on the shade wrapped in fabric and the tied cords. The red filter makes the light even softer.”

Marset

New Marset Online

Follow Me Plus

Marset

Three years ago Inma Bermúdez designed the original Follow Me and now Marset have launched a new version in a larger size and a greater light output; Follow Me Plus.

The Follow Me Plus is a beautiful portable lamp which creates a great atmosphere and can work as a table, desk or even floor light.

The design features an oak handle which invites you to carry it with you.

A three-position dimmer regulates the light intensity, allowing for a continuous output of between 5 to 20 hours, and the micro USB charging cable makes charging your FollowMe Plus quick and easy.

Click here to view the Follow Me Plus!

Bicoca

Marset

The brand new Bicoca table is designed by Christophe Mathieu. This new colourful, lightweight portable lamp projects an intimate light that adds warmth to all your personal spaces.

Made of polycarbonate, Bicoca begins with an overlay of basic geometric figures, with a tiltable shade to direct the light.

There also three separate accessories which increase the versatility of the lamp. A powerful magnet can be affixed to the bottom of the fixture, allowing you to attach it to metal surfaces -even vertical walls- defying gravity. An armchair accessory drapes over armrests, sofa backs, or headboards, so you can bring your Bicoca to all your personal reading spaces. You can also get a metallic disc accessory which hides discreetly beneath a tablecloth, securing your Bicoca to your table.

The design is available in a wide range of shade and has one perfect for any space.

Djembé

Marset

Like the echo of a drum, the Djembé collection is designed for repetition, creating musical compositions of light on the ceiling. The new collection is designed by Joan Gaspar who wanted to design a fixture with a vastly different interior to exterior.

The bell-shaped exterior recalls the texture of a stone while the interior is a smooth white space which perfectly reflects the light.

Djembé is available in a number sizes and bright colours that can be used individually or combined to create a brilliant statement piece. A separate accessory allows for the installation of sound-proofing panels.

Click here to view the Djembé collection!

Piola

Marset

Designed by Christophe Mathieu the Piola collection represents the search for a balance between the diffusion of light and the creation of shadows.

The central metal column holds more than 5 metres of spiralling, laminated banding which protects the light creating a comforting feel.

Several different types of light coexist; direct downward light, indirect reflected light, and a light that sneaks between the edges of the spiral, illuminating the fixture itself with a warm, homey glow.

The Piola is available in four colours, with the structure and screen always in the same colour.

Click here to view the Piola collection!

Pu-erh

Marset

The new Pu-erh pendant collection uses ceramics as to create a delicate, fabric-like effect. The name Pu-erh is inspired from a variety of fermented tea produced in the Yunnan province, china, which is named after the town of Pu'er.

Designer and ceramist Xavier Mañosa has created a texture, evoking pleated silk, which is then applied to a conical shade, casting a wide and beautiful ray of illumination.

The Pu-reh began with a rough hand drawn sketch which then was applied directly to the ceramic mould creating a lamp with irregular variations and a raw, natural effect. The craftsman barely intervenes, letting the lamp take shape naturally within the mould.

This new collection of suspension lamps is available in three sizes—21, 32, and 42cm—and available in black, white, blue, burgundy and pink.

Muuto

New in from Muuto

We’ve recently added some of Muuto’s latest designs online and below we have all you need to know about the latest must haves.

Tip Table

Muuto

The Tip table is created from the idea of stripping a design down to its essentials. The design is by Jens Fager, one of Sweden’s most interesting young designers. Fager graduated from Stockholm’s KonstfackUniversity and has made his mark on the international design scene with exhibitions in London, Milan and Stockholm. The table light is an example of a simple, functional design with careful attention to detail offering a direct as well as ambient light.
The power coated aluminium frame is available in a range of colours and has a dimmer function enabling you to effortlessly control the light intensity.

“TIP is a purist yet playful lamp that features a characteristic architectural silhouette. During the design process, I focused on polishing every single detail while emphasising the functional aspect of the lamp: I wanted to reduce the design to the very essence of its purpose. The moulded aluminium frame lends the Tip Lamp a clean, precise look, underscoring its subtle aesthetic.” Jens Fager.

Click here to view the Tip Table!

Airy Table

Muuto

The new Airy table collection is a design by one of Scandinavia’s leading designers, Cecilie Manz. Airy consist of a polished plywood table top and a metal frame which is soldered and welded to create a light and skinny silhouette. The collection is available in four different sizes, shapes and colours; grey, black, Oregon pine or off white.

“The idea behind AIRY was to create a coffee table that did not scream but still was not afraid to speak. The result is a table series that masters the fine balance between being light and airy, and at the same time having plenty of personality and individuality. Due to this combination AIRY gets a multi-functionality that makes the side tables suitable for every kind of interior.” Cecilie Manz.

Click here to view the Airy Table!

Loft Chair

Muuto

The loft chair by designer Thomas Bentzen is inspired by life’s everyday requirements.  The chairs design is simple and honest with contrasting materials. Loft’s solid, powder coated steel frame is offset with the warmth of plywood and is a nostalgic nod to industrial design. The visible screws further enhance the engineered feel and the materials provide a functional yet sophisticated chair fitting for any setting.

“The steel frame features simple joints and welds, lending a precise and solid appearance to the chair. The curved seat and backrest contrast this, making the Loft Chair very human and comfortable.” Thomas Bentzen

Foscarini

New finishes to the Foscarini collections

Tuareg

Foscarini

The existing Tuareg floor collection designed in 2013 now includes a matt white finish. Based on the architecture of archaic cultures, the Tuareg is a lamp with a powerful image like a work of land art in an interior landscape.

The structure is composed of aluminium tubing which creates a vivid and dynamic three dimensional form. The new matt white finish joins the original matt orange and glossy black.

Click here the view the Tuareg collection!

Le Soleil

Foscarini

A sphere composed of irregular bands, the Le Soleil pendant is large in size but visually light. When on, thanks to the bands, the light flows outward like sunbeams glimpsing through a cloud.

The Le soleil is now available with an integrated LED which creates a decorative and illuminating effect at the same time as a beam of light being projected downwards.

The Le Soleil is now available in an original copper and bronze finish that brings a new personality, enhancing the warm, natural glow of the lamp.

Click here to view the Le Soleil collection!

Spokes

Foscarini

The Spokes lamp is based on an observation of the spokes of a bicycle wheel, generating an object of great iconic force. Today the Spokes range now includes metallised finishes making the spokes seem even more slender and precious. The collection is now available in an elegant graphite and a warm copper tone which transform the presence of Spokes and opens up a world of decor possibilities.

Bover

New in from Bover

Bover has recently released their latest products for 2017 and below we have all you need to know about the new collections.

Drop

Bover

The Drop’s goal was clear from the beginning: to make a cascade pendant available with 1,6,7,12,24,36 and 48 pendants suspended. From the initial pendant design then came several wall lights, two table lamps and a floor lamp with a support tray and USB connection. The Drop’s small screen is made from borosilicate glass, finer and more delicate than blown glass.

"I was looking for a very bright light, and the translucent glass and its shape contribute to it. The light source is an LED that is hidden so that light is the only protagonist. Then, when the light is projected and reflected in the materials that are found along the way, it creates a set of sparkles and shadows. Its light is intimate, but it also has a practical utility for those who are nearby.” Designer Christophe Mathieu

Click here to view the Drop collection!

Drip

Bover

The Drip collection has the same structure as the Drop but is a diverse design with a personality of its own. The Drip’s small lampshade is also made of borosilicate glass but with the different shade it gives the impression of a completely different lamp. The versatile design of the Drips fits perfectly both in residential and commercial settings with the choice of glass creating a brilliant light.

Click here to view the Drip collection!

Marietta

Bover

The Marietta is a contemporary, decorative, warm, and enveloping outdoor pendant deigned by Joana Bover. The lamp is designed for outdoor terraces, and also for kitchens and bars. The design is a perfect go-to for all these space with its versatility and easy clean shade.  Designer, Joana is always looking for versatility in her designs and works to create pieces which can stand next to classic or contemporary designs. The outdoor suspension is made from white polyethylene with a wave-like texture form.

"Every little detail of Marietta Outdoor was thought about a thousand times. Bover takes this precise approach with every lamp they design. This is what separates many products from others. The quality lies not only in the materials but also in the industrial development behind them." Joana

Click here to view the Marietta!

Penta

Bover

In 1996 Gonzalo Milà and Juan Carlos Ines designed a lamp made of aluminium. Until now the design had only been a prototype but the time has come for it to be launched with a very important change, replacing the initial folded plate with the stamping technique. The Penta family is made up of a suspension, a table and a floor light each with three finishes; brass, aluminium and copper. Choose a corner and let Penta create its warm atmosphere, either illuminating a space or as mood lighting thanks to the incorporated dimmer.

“The premise was to make an interior lamp in which you could have a lightened surface that doesn’t dazzle”. Gonzalo Milà and Juan Carlos Ines

Brokis

Product focus – Brokis Macarons

The Brokis Macaron collection was released earlier this year and pays homage to the beauty and complex structures of crystalline stone. Enclosed in delicate handblown glass is a stone plate which seems afloat within the opposing domes. The light casts an upwards glow from the base while the centre plate creates a subtle and mesmerizing lighting effect from the chalcedony veins.

Brokis

The concept is based on the principle of illuminating stone and the collections name refers to the similar shape of the famed French meringue confection. Natural imperfections in the glass make each light a unique original and the purity of the natural materials and artisanship applied gives the light an extraordinary ambience.

Brokis

The Brokis Macaron comes in three sizes, the largest of which also makes a great floor light. The family is available in several glass colours options and with either white or honey onyx. The collection offers an alternate version featuring a centre plate made of fused glass shards in combination with a wooden base.

New release – Moooi Perch

“The joy of the Perch Light is in the detail” - designer Umut Yamac

Moooi

Previewed last year, the longingly anticipated perch collection from Moooi is now available. With Mother Nature as his inspiration and guide Umut Yamac has designed a collection which encaptures the beauty of an exotic bird blissfully perched upon a tree.

Moooi

Graduating with distinction in design from The Bartlett School of Architecture, Yamac worked for a number of internationally renowned architects and designers before establishing his own practice in 2011. The common thread of his work is the emphasis which is placed on the relationship between the object and the user with the desire to offer different levels of engagement, from the purely functional to the playful and imaginary.

Moooi

The collection of floor, table, wall and suspension lamps couples together the timeless purity of paper with the beauty of brass detailing. The family is perfect for both home or business interiors with its delicate and refined design. Thanks to a special mechanism, a gentle caress triggers a soft swaying motion, bringing these delicate creatures magically to life. The collections beautifully simple design means you can either fill the room with a forest or pick just one as a precious statement piece.

New Colour – AJ Collection

Louis Poulsen is honouring Arne Jacobsen and celebrating the 60th anniversary of his iconic AJ design by releasing new and dynamic colours to the range. The collection includes a floor, table and wall version.

The 3 piece collection is still available in the original black, white and pale petroleum options but now has 7 new colours. The new colours in the collection consist of dark green, ochre, rust red, midnight blue, aubergine and two grey midtones.

The colours are linked closely to Arne Jacobsen’s universe and have been selected to show of the essence of the lamp.

“The AJ lamps are famous for their sculptural design. The new colour collection consists of both classic and more contemporary tones, which all share the trait of highlighting the design of the AJ lamp itself,” says Idea & Design Director Rasmus Markholt from Louis Poulsen.

The AJ table, floor and wall lamps were designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1957 for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen where they were an integral part of the hotels design concept. The AJ lamp has since become a world famous design and one of Arne Jacobsen’s most popular lamps.

Louis Poulsen

“Arne Jacobsen was an aesthete to his fingertips, and it is no accident that he was often given responsibility for the interiors of the buildings he designed – right down to the smallest detail. He originally dreamed of being an artist before choosing to train as an architect, and his artistic talent and courage clearly shine through in both his unique design idiom and his sense of colour. That is why we feel it is in keeping with his spirit to update the AJ lamps with a range of classic and inspirational colours,” adds Rasmus Markholt.

The design for the AJ shade was based on using two geometric shapes; the cylinder for the socket and the cone shade. The lamp directs the light where it's needed making is ideal for use as both a work light and a reading lamp.

Featured - Louis Poulsen Cirque

Louis Poulsen

The Cirque collection was created by Swedish designer and graphic artist Clara von Zweigbergk.

“I don’t mind at all if – sitting in their kitchens – people look up and start thinking hot-air balloons and carousels,” says Clara von Zweigbergk when asked to describe her new lamp series.

The Louis Poulsen Cirque was inspired by a trip to Tivoli in Copenhagen. The amusement park is full of whirls and twirls – carousels, candyfloss makers and wheels of fortune.  The idea for the design came from the way when an object spins around very fast the colours all merge together and end up being perceived as horizontal bands of colour.

The new series of lamps is perfect for both in the home or office or situated in a restaurant or bar. The Cirque has three colour combinations Red Top, Yellow Top and Copper Top and is available in three sizes Ø150 mm, Ø220 mm and Ø380 mm. The Lamp is made with an E27 fitting meaning it can be used with a range of LED sources allowing freedom in choosing the light source perfect for your chosen space.

When hung on their own they add a dash of colour to any room yet when hung in a collection they create the ultimate decorative effect.

&Tradition New In, Passepartout!

9 August 2016 Permalink

&Tradition

&Traditions latest design sees a collaboration with designer Jamie Hayon creating the versatile and decorate lamp; Passepartout.

&Tradition

The 2016 Design incorporates its French translation as it acts like a frame where its ambient light source beautifully enhances the visual appeal of whatever it is illuminating. Hayon often questioned the idea of how you can illuminate a space with a lamp without it being too anonymous or too imposing. “The answer came from the picture frame. The picture is the focus and the frame is there to guide your eyes to it. Of course, with a lamp you have light, without it you have darkness. So the lamp is actually the unsung hero that brings any setting to life.”

&Tradition

You can fit the Passepartout Lamps on the wall or ceiling, throughout the entire home they will never look out of place. The lamp is available in three different shapes and finishes; Satin Polished Brass, Polished Aluminium or Matt White. The variation of shades and finishes means that you can create unique clusters thus creating a personalised look in any space. The Passepartout range uses built-in LED technology that ensures an energy-efficient high quality light emission which provides an illumination that is soft and soothing.

&Tradition

According to &tradition’s Brand Director Martin Kornbek Hansen,“With the Passepartout Lamps, we have combined decorative and technical lighting private and architectural buildings.”
